2021 Noyce Summer Events

Fun under the sun!

New Awardee Orientation
July 29, 2021
2:00-3:50 PM ET

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) co-hosted a virtual orientation for new Noyce awardees led by NSF Noyce Program Directors, NSF Division of Grants Administration (DGA) staff, and ICF personnel who administer the Noyce Annual Data Collection.

Mentorship Kickoff Session
July 29, 2021
4:00-5:30 PM ET

For this event, new Noyce awardees were matched with experienced Noyce PIs to form mentee-mentor learning pods.  Matches were based on responses to a survey that asked about Noyce project Track, geographic locations, area (urban/rural) and interest in and experience with activities related to Noyce project logistics and content.  Our hope was to spark good  discussions to build a broader Noyce community.  We plan to bring these PIs together again in November 2021, March 2022, and in July 2022 to celebrate 20 years of Noyce.

Noyce Town Hall and Discussions with NSF Program Officers
August 11, 2021
1:00-3:30 PM ET

This Noyce PI and project personnel event kicked off with a Town Hall focused on sharing and spurring ideas, particularly around the critical topics of recruitment and retention. Selected Noyce PIs presented successful strategies for recruiting scholars and retaining them to graduation and placement.  Following the Town Hall, there were breakout room sessions with NSF Program Officers intended as more intimate listening sessions and an opportunity to ask questions.
