Goals

Participants will learn about 3 Noyce Master Teaching Fellows’ background experiences and how they have grown as teacher leaders through their Noyce journey.

Participants will be able to reflect on their journeys as teacher-leaders and ways they can support colleagues in their teacher-leader journey.

Participants will learn about common themes Fellows encountered as they navigated and grew as teacher leaders.

Evidence

We, the three Noyce Master Teacher Fellows, are approximately 2 years into our 5 year Noyce journey. The content of our presentation is informed by discussions we had to identify common themes in how we navigated and grew as teacher leaders, review and reflection on our initial program application essay, and review of the periodic reflections we have submitted throughout the first two years.

Proposal

Three Noyce Master Teaching Fellows and two Noyce investigators share their experience and growth through an NSF Noyce Track 3 project aimed to serve the national interest by providing novel and important information regarding the impact of K-12 STEM teachers with a doctorate as instructional leaders in their schools and district. The Fellows will reflect on how they are using what they learn through their doctoral coursework and Teacher Leader Academy experiences and how this is being used in their daily lives as teachers and teacher leaders on their campuses. Each Fellow will reflect on their individual growth as well as share common themes they have all experienced as they embarked on this journey together and as they continue to grow as leaders.
