Proposal
In this study, we focus on six teachers who have been retained in high needs schools beyond expectations. Some over ten years, one for fifteen years. As we probed into their reasons, we found that the critical factor was job satisfaction. We found that schools are concerned about teachers leaving the profession but do not pay attention to what it takes to experience satisfaction from being valued, appreciated, and treated like a professional. Those schools that do, are rewarded with teachers staying in the profession and making an impact in their classes every day.
