Goals
Participants will: 1. Learn about the intentional design of coursework and experiences that prepare elementary and secondary educators who embrace culturally responsive and sustaining STEM education2. Hear from Noyce Scholars the ways in which they have designed and implemented culturally responsive and sustaining STEM lessons and curriculum
Evidence
Scholars will share their stories (case study/narrative), lesson plans, curriculum designed for and by Noyce Scholars, data collected – both quantitative and qualitative has been analyzed. Specific data related to culturally responsive/sustaining STEM pedagogy has been looked at.
Proposal
This session will focus on culturally responsive and sustaining STEM pedagogy across the various levels: 1. how we prepare our Noyce Scholars as critically conscious STEM educators that center the cultural identities of their students; 2. the ways in which the Noyce Scholars have created, revised, and implemented culturally responsive and sustaining STEM curricula.
