Goals

An interactive session that uses UCLA Teacher Education Program Classroom Observation Rubric to look at 3 major assignments Noyce scholars complete in their credentialing year. Goals include: 1. Understanding the UCLA TEP Observation Rubric, 2. Using it to understand PRAXIS: 3 assignments, one in Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter, 3. Looking at Noyce scholar student work samples and having a discussion.

Evidence

Theoretical framework UCLA Observation Rubric [Chapter 4], Francois, A., & Quartz, K. H. (Eds.). (2022). Preparing and sustaining social justice educators. Harvard Education Press.

Proposal

Effective fieldwork in teacher education programs provides powerful opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge and practical application, offering student teachers authentic learning experiences that enhance their understanding and skills as they develop their identities. This abstract introduces UCLA Teacher Education Program’s IMPACT Classroom Observation Rubric, a theoretical framework for designing and planning fieldwork and the three major assignments UCLA Noyce Scholars complete in their first year in the credentialing program.
