Proposal
How can we use autoethnography as a tool to recruit, prepare, and induct Noyce Scholars and TF/MTFs for persistence as STEM teacher leaders in high needs schools? We will first introduce the audience to autoethnography as a form of autobiographic storytelling that engages Scholars and TF/MTFs in deeply reflecting on their STEM and teaching identities as constructed from their life experiences. We will then invite a further table conversation about engaging Noyce participants in autoethnographic activities as a way to 1) recruit Noyce Scholars/TF/MTFs with retention in mind, 2) help pre-service Noyce Scholars/TFs develop self-identity and interpret clinical experience, and 3) promote retention teacher leadership in Noyce TF/MTFs.
