Abstract
What makes us want to be teachers? In this research, we analyze the correlation between hometown settings, gender identity, race, and our desire to be teachers . We analyzed the correlation by conducting research through a series of questions within an anonymous survey. Our teacher candidates, all from UTK, are getting certified through various grade levels within a K-12 range. We asked about their hometown and homestates, their preferred age group and specialization, and what made them want to teach . We find that most candidates are female, from suburban Tennessee, and want to help underprivileged students learn.
