Using Video Technology to Improve Pedagogy

Abstract

Self-reflection is important for teachers to think critically about how they can make their instructions more effective. We use a video club for pre-service and first year teachers to consider areas of improvement in their classroom pedagogy. The video club consists of recording series of lessons being taught and sharing these footages as a whole group. As they share these lessons, the goal is to analyze the student engagement and interaction to improve on teaching practices in order for our pre-service teachers (Cal Teach) to be prepared in their own classroom.
