Abstract
Complex Instruction is a method of teaching that promotes group work and an ‘equal playing field’ for all students in class. Teachers use specific ‘in the moment moves’ to rid any status issues or preconceptions of students’ math abilities by doing rich, group worthy tasks. Problems are multidimensional and requires all types of learners and multiple methods of deriving answers. Assigned group roles keep students on task and accountable.
