Abstract
Student participants from a fourth-year math class at Bisbee High School, in collaboration with a Doctoral student from the University of Arizona, explored the history and burial rituals of an ancient native tribe that thrived in the Mimbres Valley from 700 A.D. to 1150 A.D. in the South West region of the United States. Data Collection and analysis were a common core element at the heart of this project; activities included research, storytelling, basic programming, and celebrating black-on-white pottery significant to the region. The story of the students’ work was published in the local newspaper and added excitement to the end of the project.
