Noyce Scholar

Name of Noyce institution:
Stonehill College

Current academic or teaching status:
Junior

N/A

Background:

I am from Pembroke, MA and am enrolled at Stonehill College pursuing my bachelor’s degree in mathematics. I am a member of the Women’s Soccer team at Stonehill. I have a passion for community service and have participated in multiple service trips since the age of 15. I am part of a family of four with one brother, who recently finished his commitments with the United States Marine Corps, and two very supportive parents.

Why do you want to teach:

To me, teaching is about making an impact on your student’s future and guiding them to reaching their full potential. I enjoy having that type of impact on someone and I believe that I have the ability to make that impact. Mathematics is a subject that I thoroughly enjoy so being able to educate students in that subject would be a pleasure.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

I have not formally taught a lesson, yet. However, I have observed many classrooms and have experienced the classroom atmosphere. I have learned a lot from these observations and intend to use what I have learned in my future classroom.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce Program is an incredible opportunity and a great program to be a part of. The program serves as a tool in educating me further on how to be an effective math teacher, as well as an outlet to communicate with those who are taking the same career path as me. I am very thankful to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
