Background:

I am a junior mid-level education at the University of Texas at Arlington. I am from Houston, Texas but am loving being up in the DFW area. My mom is an elementary school P.E. teacher and my dad is an electrical engineer. I am one of five children and love having so many siblings! I am so blessed to have this experience and excited to be in the classroom!

Why do you want to teach:

I want to teach because I love helping people understand new things and love seeing that light go off when they actually get it. I want to help change at least one child’s life through education and see them grow as students. I also want to teach so I can get more students to love, or learn to love, math and science!

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

In my junior high placement last semester I was observing an 8th grade science class and the teacher had to step out for 15 minutes so i took over teaching. They were learning the electromagnetic spectrum so I went around answering questions and teaching them how to remember the order of the electromagnetic waves. It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to teach 8th grade science more than anything!

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program has given me so many new opportunities and provided me with so much beneficial knowledge that I am eternally grateful. I have the opportunity to continue my education while furthering my knowledge on the ins and outs of being a teacher, all because of the awesome seminars the Noyce programs has offered.
