Adam Rubin

Undergraduate major or graduate field of study: MAT - SCED, Biology

Subject area(s) and grade level teaching focus: Biology, grades 9-12

Category of scholarship/fellowship:
Master Teaching Fellow

Name of Noyce institution:
Towson University

Current academic or teaching status:
Graduate Master's Program

School and school district:
Howard County, MD

Background:

I grew up in Columbia, MD where I attended Wilde Lake High. Before coming to Towson, I attended Virginia Tech where I received a BS in Dairy Science. Initially I thought I wanted to go to vet school, but the sight of blood scared me away.

Why do you want to teach:

I love biology and love working with kids…what other profession combines the two things I love?

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

While at Virginia Tech, I was a teaching assistant and gave a lecture to 150 students without anyone walking out or falling asleep. For me, it was a great indication that I was right about wanting to teach.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

Looking at the short-term, the Noyce program has allowed me to not have to work during my final year. Looking ahead, I see lifelong partnerships with fellow teachers.
