N/A

Background:

I come from a low-income household where my dad is the only parent who brings the money to the house. I am the first child of my parents, and am also the first in my family to attend college. I am reaching my goal to teach in urban schools. It has always been my dream to be a teacher.

Why do you want to teach:

I want to help students who attend urban schools because, from my personal experience as a student, I had several math teachers who were not effective and did not teach me math correctly.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

One of the most memorable experiences that I can remember was when my cousin needed help to find the derivatives in multiplication, division, subtraction, and addition so I tutored her. She took a test on derivatives a few days later, and told me she passed her test with a perfect score. In fact, she was the only person in her class to get that perfect score. When she told me, I felt really proud of myself; I had done a great job tutoring my cousin.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

This program means a lot to me because it offers many services that help students reach their goals.
