Background:
I was born in Durham, NC, but have always lived in Pittsboro, a town right outside of Chapel Hill. It’s a small town, but one that I would love to go back to and teach in one day. I’m a very hands-on person and enjoy the outdoors and working with numbers.
Why do you want to teach:
My passion is teaching because I feel that all students need an equal opportunity to learn and experience an education. My mom has been a teacher for over 30 years and has had a big impact on my choice to teach.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
Teaching for the first time in front of a classroom of high school math students was my most memorable teaching moment. I knew after teaching the lesson that I was ready to teach and learned my strengths and weaknesses that day.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The Noyce program is one that will always stand out to me. The program helps out in so many ways. Of course the money helps, but the support from the program as well as faculty and staff is so much more appreciated. Having mentors and programs to see you through any obstacle is amazing and so helpful.
