Background:
I am a junior at the University of South Carolina. My major is Mathematics, and my minor is Secondary Education. I am enrolled in the Master’s in Teaching program to gain my master’s from the university.
Why do you want to teach:
I want to teach because I have a passion to help students succeed in and outside of the classroom. I love helping people in all aspects of life, and I love mathematics.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
Last year, I had a practicum at an elementary School in Fort Jackson. The whole experience stands out in my mind because that is when I realized that teachers do way more for students than just teach. They are leaders and role models for students who may not have anyone else to look up to.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The Noyce Scholarship is helping me achieve the career goals that I have in life. Not only does the Noyce Scholarship provide aid for teachers, I think it provides a foundation for young teachers to continue to learn and grow.
