Background:

I am originally from Florida, but have been living in South Carolina since 1994. I received my undergraduate degree with a major in biology and minor in marine science from the University of South Carolina (USC) in 2008. I returned to USC for my graduate degree, and graduated in May 2013 with a MAT degree.

Why do you want to teach:

While in high school I was a tutor for middle school students. During this time I worked with one student and helped her pass. At the end of the year that student came to me and thanked me for all my help. This event sparked my interest in teaching. I love seeing my students learn. I want to inspire my students to do and achieve great things.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

My most memorable experience is why I wanted to become a teacher. During high school I was a tutor for middle school students. With my help one student was able to pass, and at the end of the year that student came to me and thanked me for all my help.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program has allowed me to finish my graduate degree and reach my goal of becoming a teacher. The program also provided me with opportunities to develop as a professional by sending me to conferences and giving me new technology (an iPad)to use in my classroom.
