Background:
I did many things before deciding to become a teacher, including working at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and driving a school bus. When I returned to school, I started at the Community College of Baltimore County. I transferred to Towson University to complete my degree, where I became involved with the Noyce program.
Why do you want to teach:
I absolutely love math! I want to help students to understand the part math plays in their lives and learn how much fun it can be.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
Many of the teachers in my department, including myself, worked with a student to help her pass our state exam. This student worked extremely hard and showed so much progress by the end of the year. I truly felt that I had made a difference for this student.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The camaraderie and support of my fellow Noyce Scholars helped me get through student teaching and my first year as a teacher. I look forward to the time we spend together, sharing our successes and challenges.
