Background:

I spent time in the Greeley-Evans School District completing my stages of student teaching where I ran in to a wide range of students and learners. I found myself missing the mountains so I pursued opportunities on the western slope and landed in the heart of it. I move to Glenwood Springs this August to begin my career.

Why do you want to teach:

I want to teach so that I can extend the opportunities, encouragement, support and understanding teacher and professors that I have had extended to me.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

During a semester of work prior to my official student teaching I was walking the halls of the school I was placed in Greeley and I passed a student I did not know that well. I smiled at her, not expecting much in return, but instead she stopped me to tell me the following: “Ms. Miller I know you haven’t been here that long but we really like it when you are here to teach us thank you for working with us.” This was also the first time I had been addressed as “Ms. Miller”.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program has assisted me in many ways. The financial burden it lifted was very helpful but beyond that it has supported me professional by providing opportunities to met other scholars and professionals.
