Category of scholarship/fellowship:
Fifth year or post-baccalaureate Noyce scholar

Name of Noyce institution:
Rutgers The State University Newark

Current academic or teaching status:

will be in Newark

Background:

I work full time, and attend Rutgers University part time. I just completed the requirements for my BA in Biology, and I am now enrolled in the Urban Education Program at Rutgers in Newark. I will be graduating in May of 2011.

Why do you want to teach:

I would like to make a difference in student’s academic career: changes that hopefully will also help them when they are out in the real world as well.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

I have not really taught before, but I have tutored. It was amazing, and rewarding to know that I made such a difference in the way the student understood the material that I was assisting with.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce is really a great experience so far. The meetings that I have attended have taught me so much more about new tools, and programs that I can use a teacher. Noyce have given me the opportunity to experience, teacher’s conferences and seminars. As a prospective Biology teacher, the Noyce program makes me feel more passionate and strong about teaching.
