Background:

I am a naturalized citizen from New Zealand and a former Navy Commander and Naval Aviator. I graduated from the United States Naval Academy and completed 20 years of active duty service at various duty stations. I’m now working on a second career.

Why do you want to teach:

The opportunity to coach came up and teaching physics has always been something I thought would be fun. I like the energy of the students and coaching has given me the opportunity to give back and help provide opportunities that I was thankful for.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

I was a Navy flight instructor and cherished those years. I had the opportunity to work with not only students, but to supervise instructor training and help with curriculum development. The whole process was special, and I thought it felt good knowing that the knowledge I passed on would be useful in real world circumstances.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program is a great opportunity which has helped me to move forward with my goals. I think it is great that this program is available and encourages people like me to choose a teaching career especially in high needs areas.
