I was born in South Dakota and grew up in Nebraska. I attended high school in Utah and earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology at Utah Valley University. I received my M.Ed. from ASU this May. I am currently teaching Biology and General Science at Primavera Online High School. I am married to an astrophysicist.
Why do you want to teach:
I have always liked helping people fulfill their goals and dreams. I wanted to combine my love for science with my love for helping others succeed.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
A student I had was having a hard time understanding how to do a lab project. I worked with her step by step until she understood it. She passed the course and got an A on the project and was so happy. She said she couldn’t have done it without my help and appreciated everything that I had done for her. This stood out in my mind because it made me feel like just having one conversation with a student could make all the difference in getting them to succeed.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The Noyce program has helped me fulfill my goals of becoming a teacher and educating students about science.
