Background:
I grew up in Baltimore and have fallen in love with this place. I go to college in the area and hope to teach in the same area I grew up in. I enjoy running to start my day. I also lead a high school ministry called Young Life and love giving my life away to my kids so that they can experience the love of Jesus Christ.
Why do you want to teach:
In high school I excelled until I reached my AP physics course where I struggled until I was ready to quit. However, my teacher didn’t let me quit and instead challenged me to step up to up. Well he helped learn how to work hard and study, and I began to see my potential. So why do I want to teach? I want to help other kids reach their full potential and not quit on themselves.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
When I taught my first lesson in physics I was nervous, but enjoyed every moment of it. It was inspiring to see my lesson actually help students learn which was evident by the students’ questions and discussions. I got to see the power of the teacher first hand, and I wanted more.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The Noyce program has helped keep my dreams alive. My family, like others, is having financial difficulties, so the potential of finishing college debt free was far fetched. Without programs like Noyce, I wouldn’t be able to attend college. I’m so thankful for the support given to me and hope to be able to give back through my teaching.
