Background:

I was born and raised in Southern Maryland, right next to the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River. My parents own two successful child care centers which I love to go visit during my time off from school. Currently, I am a junior at Towson University with a major in Mathematics – Secondary Education and will graduate in 2013.

Why do you want to teach:

My love for math started in sixth grade because my pre-Algebra teacher made the subject so much fun and easy to understand. From then on I always pictured myself with a career involving math in some way. In tenth grade I had pre-calculus and trigonometry and my teacher inspired me to become a teacher. She was enthusiastic, made the material easy to understand, and cared about her students. I want to make an impact on students and, hopefully, inspire them to pursue a career in mathematics.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

This Noyce program has allowed my family not to worry so much about the finances of paying my tuition as well as those of my two sisters and brother. The Noyce program is giving me the foundation to become a successful educator and mentor to future students.
