Background:
I am originally from Michigan and attended Michigan State University for two years. I transferred to the University of South Carolina in 2008. I will be graduating with a major in biology and minor in history, and attending the Master’s of Teaching program at the University of South Carolina starting in May.
Why do you want to teach:
Why I want to teach is asked all the time. It surprises many that teaching is and has always been a passion to me. I want to teach because I feel that students deserve the best. I want to give my future students the best education, especially in the biology area. I want to inspire my future students to go to college and continue their education. I would like to inspire students to enjoy going to school as much as my teachers did for me, and also to teach students that learning biology can be fun and interesting!
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
I do not have a memorable teaching experience yet, but hope to have one really soon.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
The Noyce program has allowed me to continue to go to college and reach my goal of becoming a teacher. Without the program, I do not know if I would have been able to attend my last few years of college. I would not be where I am today without the Noyce program.
