Background:
While in undergraduate school, I discovered a love of mathematics and teaching and volunteered at an elementary school. After graduation, I became a trainer thinking that training and teaching were the same. The biggest difference was the energy of the young. I decided then that middle or high school was where I wanted to teach.
Why do you want to teach:
I teach because I want to share my love of mathematics and show students that there is beauty in math.
Describe a memorable teaching experience:
I was told that a previous student of mine was speaking to another teacher. While talking about their experiences in their college class, the student said that Calculus was easy because of my math class.
What does the Noyce program mean to you:
Being part of the Noyce program means that there is a community of support for me not only while I am in school obtaining my degree, but after I have graduated and am teaching. This support will help increase my success in the classroom and therefore my students’ success.
