Background:

I am currently an undergraduate biology major at Winthrop University and plan to do my Master’s in teaching at Winthrop as well.

Why do you want to teach:

I want to teach because I am passionate about my subject area and want to use that passion to inspire students and help them learn.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

When I was still in high school as a teacher cadet, I worked with a class of sixth graders. This entire class stood out as a whole but the most memorable experience was when one of my students forgot her homework and I gave her partial credit in exchange for her promise that she would bring it in the next day. Sure enough the following day she came running through the doors, paper in hand, with her assignment done in full. Her mom came up to me a few weeks later and told me that science is her new favorite subject, and she’s never seen her daughter happier or trying in any other class.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program means opportunities for expanding my resources to make me the best teacher I can possibly be.
