Background:

. I have attended Paine College in Augusta, Ga. I received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. I currently attend the University of Georgia. I am working on the Masters of Art in Teaching in Mathematics Education.

Why do you want to teach:

I want to be a mathematics teacher because I see the need for minority students to be taught how to think beyond what’s being given to them. I have found that I can help minority students to excel in mathematics by helping them to learn mathematical concepts and to understand that knowing the basics of a concept is not enough. I have found that the student must learn how to apply the concept to a situation. I believe that I would be an asset to my community because I am a young individual who finds mathematics exciting and I have the capability to make mathematics exciting to other people.

Describe a memorable teaching experience:

All of my teaching experiences have been memorable for now.

What does the Noyce program mean to you:

The Noyce program has afforded me an awesome opportunity to matriculate through a challenging yet rewarding program at the University of Georgia. This program has offered me an opportunity to expand my thinking about mathematics education and about the teaching of mathematics.
