Need

Dordt University just completed its first Track 1 Noyce grant. This poster will share the challenges and successes of our first grant.

Research Questions

As first time Noyce grant recipients, how do we recruit and prepare teachers to lead in rural settings?

Approach

A number of approaches were used to support this Track 1 program. Most notably, best practices for preparing teachers to lead in rural schools and training scholars in growth mindset pedagogy.

Outcomes

30 students received 1-2 years of support through the Noyce scholarship program over the 6 years of the grant. New programs to recruit and retain STEM teachers were put in place. This work will continue with a new Track 1 Scholarship grant and and Capacity Building grant to propose a Track 2 grant as well.

Broader Impacts

30 students received 1-2 years of support through the Noyce scholarship program over the 6 years of the grant.
