Need

This project addresses the shortage of STEM teachers and will recruit and retain STEM teachers in New York City.

Goals

How can we recruit and retain STEM teachers at New York City College of Technology and Borough of Manhattan Community College?

Approach

A three-tiered recruitment strategy is used to recruit and retain STEM teachers.

Outcomes

This project has recruited a total of 20 new STEM teachers to address the chronic shortage of STEM teachers in New York City and will continue to guide and support these teachers.

Broader Impacts

This project will increase the number of certified STEM teachers who teach in high-need school districts.
