Need

We created paid internships to allow our students to gain hands-on experiences working with three local outdoor education organizations.

Research Questions

Our students rotated through each site, gaining valuable training while offering much needed assistance.

Approach

We worked to establish long-term relationships with the educational organizations, both training future teachers, and providing assistance with their outreach.

Outcomes

Our students have been offered jobs by these organizations and by the school divisions visiting.

Broader Impacts

Our students report a significant increase in knowledge and skills, and a deeper appreciation of the efforts needed to provide hands-on experiences for schoolchildren. We plan to continue these collaborations into the future.
