Need
While our Noyce project is nearing the end, many others are just starting. There is a wealth of knowledge about project management among past project recipients and we hope to share that knowledge with those in the early stages of a Noyce project. We will display the materials and resources we found useful in starting our projects, recruiting highly qualified candidates, involving Noyce scholars in our teacher preparation program, and managing the application process and post-award reporting functions.
Goals
Visitors to the poster will learn how we managed our overall project, and see the resources we developed for various parts of our project and at different times throughout the life of our project. Our goal is to engage in conversations about topics of interest that are related to starting a Noyce project, managing on-going projects, and expectations for external reporting.
Approach
Visitors to our poster will be encouraged to write down the questions, concerns and challenges they are facing. We will compile these on a list and make them available after the conference on a blog so others can offer their advice about specific issues of interest or share their resources they found useful.
Outcomes
We will encourage those who are experiencing challenges or have needs with the insights to connect with more experienced project managers after the conference on a blog and through posting documents to Google docs. Experienced project managers will be able to distribute resources or offer their advice about specific issues of interest.
Broader Impacts
Our poster has the potential to connect new Noyce project managers with knowledgeable and experienced project managers at the conference and after. Our post-conference blog and shared Google docs will provide mechanisms for individuals to connect with one another as they continue to share resources and insights regarding the management of Noyce projects.
