Need
Traditional teaching methods in secondary science education often emphasize rote memorization and passive learning, which can disengage students and limit their deeper understanding of scientific concepts. Project-based learning (PBL) offers an alternative approach that promotes active engagement, critical thinking, and culturally responsive teaching practices by honoring students’ funds of knowledge by centering student voices and giving opportunities for student choice.
