Changing Perspective on Standards Based Grading and Proper Implementation

Abstract

When I was first introduced to standards-based grading, I was skeptical. Then during my student -teaching semester, I worked with the idea of standards-based grading presented as skills-based grading: the learning standards are changed and re-worded into skills students can perform to demonstrate mastery. In this poster, I will provide an overview of how students are continually assessed throughout each unit using this method and how reassessment becomes much easier because the students can see exactly what they aren’t understanding.
