Webinar: NSF IUSE Program, Exploration & Design Track

The NSF Division of Undergraduate Education in collaboration with AAAS will offer an Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) webinar on December 4 for those interested in improving undergraduate education for pre-service STEM teachers related to the IUSE Exploration & Design (E&D) track.  PowerPoint slides will be made available, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.  An audio archive will be posted after the webinar.

The NSF IUSE Program supports proposals that seek to improve undergraduate STEM education, including pre-service STEM education.  The new solicitation (NSF 17-590)  states: “IUSE:  EHR encourages projects that develop faculty expertise, prepare K-12 teachers, and provide all undergraduate students with STEM competencies and a basic understanding of STEM concepts and principles.”

The IUSE Program supports research-based and research-generating approaches to understanding STEM learning; to designing, testing, and studying curricular change; to wide dissemination and implementation of best practices; and to broadening participation of individuals and institutions in STEM fields.”  The webinar will focus on opportunities for funding in the EHR:  IUSE Program, E&D track, specifically associated with aspects of undergraduate education related to STEM pre-service teacher preparation.  The questions of the participants will assist in driving the richness of the discussion.

Kathleen Bergin and Sandra Richardson, NSF Program Officers in the IUSE Program, will facilitate the webinar.
